Ms. Asmita Bijlani is a psychologist and expressive arts therapy practitioner with extensive experience in counselling adolescents, adults and the elderly. She specialises in using an intermodal expressive arts approach—combining movement, drama, music and visual arts—to support clients dealing with emotional, behavioural and psychological concerns.
She works with diverse populations including individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, relationship concerns, self-esteem issues and psychosocial challenges. She has experience working in acute psychiatric settings, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams including psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers and rehabilitation therapists to provide holistic mental healthcare.
Asmita has delivered individual and group therapy sessions across multiple organisations, including hospitals, mental health centres and community platforms. Her approach integrates psychotherapy with creative arts-based techniques, enabling clients to explore emotions, enhance self-expression and build coping skills.
She has completed her Master’s in Applied Psychology (Clinical specialization) from Jamia Millia Islamia and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Expressive Arts Therapy from St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai. She is UGC-NET qualified and trained in various therapeutic modalities including CBT, ACT, DBT, and trauma-informed expressive arts work.
